SnapIT

An image-sharing app built around one picture at a time.

The problem

Social apps pile up endless photos. SnapIT explores the opposite: each user shares one image at a time, and a new image replaces the last, which keeps sharing deliberate and uncluttered.

Approach

  • Lets users take pictures with their webcam directly inside the app.
  • Sends the latest image to all of a user's friends instantly, replacing the previous one.
  • Stores user details and images in MongoDB behind a Node.js and Express back end.
  • Includes sign up, sign in, profile search and profile pages, with a Bootstrap and jQuery front end.

Results

  • A complete flow: sign up, find and add friends, capture, send.
  • The one-image-at-a-time rule is enforced by the data model, not just the interface.
